Floodlight Inspection
Council engages suitably qualified and experienced contractors to undertake regular inspections of its floodlighting network assets to ensure public safety, identify required maintenance to maximise serviceable life and gather condition data to guide logical and efficient replacement programs.
A typical inspection includes:
-
Visual inspection of entire column, connections, cross-arms and fixtures to identify defects and potential hazards; and
-
Excavation about base of pole to identify hidden defects such as rot, decay, termite damage (timber columns) or corrosion (steel columns).
More recently Council has adopted the use of drone technology in floodlight inspections. The use of drones with HD images and video can efficiently identify common defects and hazards without the need for field closures, eliminates the chance of damage to playing surfaces and removes the requirement for high-risk plant and equipment.
