Camden Council Animal Care Facility will remain at Rossmore Veterinary Hospital for at least another three years after Council accepted a tender at last night’s Ordinary Meeting.

Rossmore Veterinary Hospital has been the home of Council’s Animal Care Facility since 2018, with almost 600 dogs and more than 150 cats going through the facility.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Theresa Fedeli, said the Veterinary Hospital was the ideal candidate to assist Council in rehoming or returning pets to their owners.

“Council is committed to maintaining the safety of local companion animals while also keeping its ‘no kill’ policy for found pets and Rossmore Veterinary Hospital is an easily accessible local facility.” Cr Fedeli said.

“Unfortunately, we still receive calls regarding either lost and unwanted pets and it is Council’s mission to reunite pets with their owners or rehome them.

“Rossmore Veterinary Hospital has worked well with Council through the initial three years and has the right experience to continue hosting Council’s Animal Care Facility.”

Council will continue utilising Rossmore Veterinary Hospital to impound the area’s lost and unwanted pets for a further three years with the option of two additional one-year extensions.

Residents are reminded to register pets and keep their details up to date if you have recently moved homes.
