Bring Camden’s history to light
Posted 4 years ago
Camden’s unique history is set to come to life, and we need your help!
Council’s Heritage Advisory Committee is running a social media campaign over the festive season, asking residents to uncover their untold stories behind Camden’s rich and diverse history.
Information gathered will help to map Camden’s oral history as part of a knowledge-sharing and story-telling program that will be used to describe the people, places and events that have shaped the identity of the area.
Mayor of Camden, Cr Theresa Fedeli, said it was time for residents to put their thinking caps on and bring out the great Camden history.
“Camden is well known for its heritage and historic value and I know there are residents with many stories that are just waiting to be heard by the wider community,” Cr Fedeli said.
“The social media campaign will allow us to not only uncover untold stories, but importantly also educate our new residents about the unique heritage in our very own backyard.”
“We are after photographs, audio or video clips and even written stories. During this festive season I urge all of our community to have a chat with their loved ones and maybe write down or even record the stories of Camden.”
The stories can be short, authentic and even quirky to tell the story of your memories and experiences across the Camden area.
