Camden has a new economic vision

Council is proudly sporting a brand new economic vision for the Camden area, with the adoption of its first Economic Development Strategy since 2013.

The strategy outlines Council’s priorities for stimulating economic growth and vitality throughout the Camden area over the next four years. The vision underpinning the strategy is to leverage Camden’s local strengths and emerging regional advantages to promote attractive and liveable places, stimulate economic and employment growth, and foster a vibrant, diversified and technologically advanced economy.

The Economic Development Strategy 2022-2026 identifies four strategic directions which will support and enhance the Camden economy in the short term, with accompanying priorities which outline Council’s implementation approach. They include:

  1. Facilitating business and industry growth, with priorities like investigating the establishment of flexible work hubs across Camden;
  2. Strengthening education, training and career pathways, with priorities that include working with stakeholders to deliver education, training and career pathway programs;
  3. Attracting investment to the region, with related priorities such as investigating opportunities to attract and encourage the delivery of social services and infrastructure; and
  4. Supporting the development of vibrant places, accompanied by priorities like developing and delivering activations throughout Camden centres.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Therese Fedeli, said the central focus continued to be supporting our local businesses.

“Our local businesses are often described as the backbone of our community,” Cr Fedeli said.

“We have more than 10,000 businesses registered in the Camden area, and we want to support and foster them as much as we can so we can continue to be an enabler of economic growth and diversification.

“And this isn’t just important for Camden – it’s important for the whole region. Camden has a lot to offer the Macarthur region and the Western Parkland City. We want to continue to work as hard as we can to contribute.”
