Christmas for all, thanks to Macarthur Combined Churches

Residents who thought they may be alone on Christmas Day can think again, with Macarthur Combined Churches hosting a free Christmas Lunch at Oran Park Library for the first time.
Macarthur Combined Churches have run a similar event for 30 years and, after Council funded the cost of hiring Oran Park Library’s Sandown Rooms for the event, they’ll bring the much-loved event to Camden for the first time. The event will run from midday on Christmas Day.
Event organiser, Susan Peacock, said the free Christmas lunch gave people who would be lonely on a joyous day the chance to celebrate with others.
“As we remember the birth of Jesus, God's only Son becoming human and living amongst us, it seems so appropriate to look at how we might show that same kind of love to others, particularly those who might be alone,” Ms Peacock said.
“It is a privilege to be working with Camden Council and I thank them for their support in covering the entire hire cost of the venue.
“If you would otherwise be alone on Christmas Day, we warmly invite you to join us, wearing Christmas apparel.”
The Christmas Day menu includes the popular Christmas hams, chicken, roast potatoes and pumpkin, cauliflower and broccoli au gratin, peas and corn, gravy and assorted condiments.
Council funded the hiring of the library’s Sandown Room as part of its Donations for Charitable Purposes Program.
The event will follow the current NSW Health guidelines on the day.
