Residents are set to benefit with Council committing more than $100,000 to local community groups and sporting organisations at last night’s ordinary meeting.

The funding is part of Council’s COVID-19 Community Support Package – Stage Three to provide ongoing support to both local businesses and residents and included Community Small Grants, Community Sponsorship, Sport and Recreation Grants and Cultural Activation Seed Grants.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Therese Fedeli, said the grants will assist a range of community groups in assisting residents.

“Council is committed to supporting the community while encouraging community wellbeing and social connections and these grants go a long way to achieving that goal,” Cr Fedeli said.

“It is important for Council to support organisations in assisting our community in a range of programs and initiatives.

“All of our local community groups play a vital role for our residents and I am proud to see Council where it can.”

Twenty local community groups and sporting organisations received Community Small Grants and Sport and Recreation Grants respectively, with a further six not-for-profit groups or individuals receiving Community Sponsorship for 2022 and six successful recipients of the Cultural Activation Seed Grant.
