Residents are being encouraged to stay connected and support one another by leaving a calling card to their neighbours in celebrating Neighbour Day this Sunday 29 March.

Neighbour Day is Australia’s yearly celebration of community, encouraging people to connect with those who live in their neighbourhood.

Despite social distancing measures to restrict the spread of COVID-19, there is still plenty of ways residents can support those around them and the community can now print off and fill out their own Hey Neighbour! card designed by Camden Council and leave it on their neighbour’s doorstep or letter box.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Theresa Fedeli, said there were key tips the community could use to celebrate Neighbour Day and throughout the current pandemic.

"Staying connected and checking in with your neighbours, particularly older people, at this time is crucial," Cr Fedeli said.

"Residents can leave a calling card for a neighbour with their contact details and a brief message letting them know you are there to chat at any time or can even offer to collect medicine or groceries to help neighbours who are self-isolating.

"You can even join in on our #camdenlove social media campaign by posting what you are doing while at home.

"There are many ways our community can still work together and show our true Camden spirit and I encourage everyone to continue being there for one another, in particular on Neighbours Day this Sunday."
