Camden Council’s ‘We’re Stronger Together’ campaign has been highly commended at the Local Government NSW awards last week.
Recognised under the RH Dougherty, Excellence in Communication category, the campaign was centred around outdoor activation and saw a range of positive messages installed on light pole banners and bus shelters as well as floor stickers in parks and playgrounds across the Camden area during the 2021 COVID-19 lockdown.
Mayor of Camden, Cr Therese Fedeli said the feel-good campaign gave residents a sense of optimism during a difficult period last year.
“The We’re Stronger Together campaign was the perfect way to remind the community that there was light at the end of the tunnel while we were under stay-at-home orders for a few months last year,” Cr Fedeli said.
“The campaign was a massive success for Council. It saw a combined social media reach of approximately 738,000, 18 stories published in the media and also saw Council break the Guinness World Record for the largest online quiz with 2,323 participants.
“The most heart-warming results though were seen via comments on social media and in emails and conversations with residents.
“The RH Dougherty Awards are the highest level of recognition for local government across the state. I’m very proud of the work we do across the whole of Council to help improve the lives of our residents, and I congratulate the team on this project.”
The RH Dougherty Awards recognise and encourage greater understanding and communication by councils to their local communities and is run by Local Government NSW.
