Further grant funding secured for Kirkham Park BMX facility

International BMX riders will soon ride into Camden after Council successfully secured funding of $2.79 million from the NSW Government’s 2019/20 Greater Sydney Sports Facility Fund.
The funding, to be matched by Council, will go towards the construction of stage 2 of the Kirkham Park BMX facility, including:
- An 8-metre start hill for the international level BMX racetrack;
- Off road sprint area;
- Recreational jump park and pump park;
- Shared carparking; and
- Additional landscaping.
Mayor of Camden, Cr Theresa Fedeli said the funding will add to Camden’s first-class sporting facilities and enable the area to host international level events.
“Council is committed to providing the community with the highest quality sport and recreation facilities and this funding will go a long way to constructing one of Macarthur’s biggest sporting hubs,” Cr Fedeli said.
“The Kirkham Park Masterplan was adopted by Council in 2018 and it is great to see it coming to fruition. When complete, the state-of-the-art facility will enhance our area as a sports haven.
“I would thank the State Government for their funding, and I look forward to the completion of stage two of Kirkham Park BMX facility.”
Work on stage one of the facility was completed in March this year, including a five-metre start hill, access ramps, a main racetrack, flood lighting, timing and scoring system and landscaping.
