Light up your home for Christmas Lights Competition
Posted 24 months ago in Whats On
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas as Camden gears up to celebrate the festive season with a few exciting events coming up.
The first is Council’s Christmas Lights Competition, which is now open. The annual competition invites residents to light up their homes and enter a range of categories, including:
- Best Lit House;
- Best Novelty Display;
- Best Street; and
- Best Commercial/Non-residential.
Entries to the Camden Christmas Lights Competition close on Monday 28 November at 5pm. Winners will be announced on Council’s Facebook on Monday 19 December.
Council will then be celebrating the inaugural Camden Christmas Festival, to be held on Saturday 26 November, 4-9pm, along Argyle Street in Camden. This event will include the annual lighting of the community Christmas tree, live music, market stalls, amusements and rides and a very special visit from Santa himself.
Festivities will continue with Oran Park Christmas Concert on Thursday 1 December, 5-9pm, at Oran Park Civic Precinct on Central Avenue. This event will see the lighting of the Oran Park Christmas Tree as well as Christmas entertainment, market stalls and another visit from Saint Nick.
Mayor of Camden, Cr Therese Fedeli, called on the community to get into the festive spirit and fill Camden with lots of colour and cheer.
“Christmas is such a beautiful time of year,” Cr Fedeli said.
“I know I can feel it in myself – it’s when we’re all so happy and feeling extra generous and excited. The long year has come to an end, we’re able to reflect on everything we’ve accomplished, and we get to do that by spending time with our friends and family.
“Our Christmas Lights Competition is always highly competitive, with people coming from right across Sydney to see the beautiful displays in the Camden area. Together with the Camden Christmas Festival and Oran Park Christmas Concert, the Christmas Lights Competition is the perfect time to let Saint Nick into your hearts yet again. I look forward to seeing all the entries come through and seeing you all down at these two fabulous events.”
