Local artists to benefit from upgraded Civic Centre

Residents including artists and creatives will have access to an improved space after Council secured more than $12,000 in state Government funding for works at the Camden Civic Centre.
The funding, part of the NSW Government’s Community Building Partnership program, will involve installation of new multi-purpose flooring in The Undercroft to expand potential usage of the community spaces.
Mayor of Camden, Cr Theresa Fedeli said the funding was a welcome boost to the evolving Camden area.
“Our area is home to many creatives and community groups seeking spaces to share their skills and experience, and engage in creative industry,” Cr Fedeli said.
“The Civic Centre is already a fantastic venue which has hosted the likes of renowned comedians which include Anh Do, Rove McManus, Peter Helliar, Kitty Flanagan and Lawrence Mooney.
“The improvements to the Undercroft will allow for an expanded program of activities, offering a flexible space for local creative people to practice a variety of art forms, while still being available for our much-loved community groups
“I’d like to thank the NSW Government for their funding into our community and look forward to seeing increased activation of the Camden Civic Centre.”
Camden Council was also supported by almost $100,000 of funding from the NSW Government Club Grants earlier this year for improvements at the Camden Civic Centre.
