Building a new house or renovating your property may be a little quicker and easier from next year with all applications for development approval from council being lodged online from the comfort of your home or office.

Lodging development and certificate applications online via the NSW Planning Portal will become mandatory as of Thursday 31 December, 2020 with Council no longer accepting printed applications.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Theresa Fedeli said submitting development and certificate applications online will save residents time through the process of building or renovating their homes.

“Building a new house or renovating your property is always exciting but the development assessment process can sometimes be confusing and overwhelming,” Cr Fedeli said.

“Seeking council approval is simply easier now because you can do so anywhere, any time with the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment’s online application service.”

“We know how much work and effort goes into building or renovating your homes and I believe this process will be seamless for the community.”

Applicants will need to register for a NSW Planning Portal account before logging in and uploading application documents.
