Your experiences can help shape our future flood resistance

What are your experiences of flooding in the Nepean River catchment area?
Camden Council is calling on residents and business owners to share their experiences to help identify where measures might best be implemented to reduce the risk of flooding in the catchment and to assist with emergency management. Feedback will help inform potential future flood mitigation measures.
The study area includes the Nepean River and its tributaries, including Spring Creek, Navigation Creek, Matahil Creek, Sickles Creek, Cobbitty Creek and Bringelly Creek. The consultation follows the community consultation undertaken for the Narellan Creek catchment last year.
Mayor of Camden, Cr Ashleigh Cagney, said local information and experiences would be extremely beneficial.
“Flooding is naturally a concern for our region and many local residents have unfortunately experienced the heartache, stress and inconvenience of previous floods,” she said.
“We’re being proactive so Council and the community can be as prepared as possible for future flood events.”
People with experience of flooding in the Nepean River catchment are invited to share photos, records and recollections by:
- Attending a community drop-in session on Tuesday 19 March from 2-4pm at Camden Library; or
- Completing the survey online and uploading flood photos and videos by 8 April at www.yourvoice.camden.nsw.gov.au/floodplain-management.
