Grab your gloves and get ready to make a difference to your area by registering to take part in Clean Up Australia Day on Sunday 7 March.

Communities across Australia have banded together to clean up their area for up to 30 years as part of the national event.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Theresa Fedeli, said it was a great chance for residents to help keep Camden as picturesque as ever.

“Clean Up Australia Day is not only about tidying up for today, but more importantly making a difference to the environment for future generations to enjoy,” Cr Fedeli said.

“We can all make a difference by preventing rubbish from entering the environment while also removing what is already accumulated.

“Residents have the option to create their own group or join another in the local area to help keep Camden beautiful. I encourage the community to join in and do their part.”

Camden Council also offers a range of waste disposal options, to help keep the Camden area pristine. They include:

• Weekly garbage, recycling and green waste collection;
• Kerbside collection. Residential properties are eligible for three free kerbside collection services per financial year;
• Recycling Drop Off Days, where residents can dispose of their extra recycling products quarterly at Council’s Works Depot located at 5 Millwood Avenue, Narellan;
• Household Chemical Cleanout, where residents can dispose of their household chemicals in a safe and environmentally friendly manner at the annual Household Chemical CleanOut;
• Battery Recycling Program, which involves the disposal of batteries at six local drop-off locations;
• E-Waste service, where residents and businesses can recycle unwanted electronic equipment at Spring Farm Resource Recovery Park and two other regional locations; and
• Return and Earn, with six locations across the Camden area.
