Camden’s Visitor Information Centre has re-opened today, following refurbishment works to the heritage John Oxley Cottage.
The $250,000 works have made improvements to the accessibility of the cottage, created new display systems, refreshed signage, updated landscaping and improved the visitor experience.
The refurbishment also included essential maintenance to protect the heritage cottage, including the removal of mould and work to manage rising damp and drainage issues.
Mayor of Camden, Cr Theresa Fedeli, said the works have lengthened the life of one of Camden’s most historic buildings.
“John Oxley Cottage has been a part of Camden’s history for over 100 years and it is important to keep it up to standard,” Cr Fedeli said.
“While our area continues to grow, it is equally important to pay tribute to what has made Camden so great including a number of historic buildings and churches.
“Most recently, the cottage has been home of our Visitor Information Centre, giving visitors to our historic town a destination to stop and get the best information about the area from locals themselves.”
Camden Visitor Information Centre is located at 46 Camden Valley Way, Elderslie.
