Footpath Inspection via Quadbike

Camden Council undertakes Footpath Inspections via Quadbike annually to detect defects and to assess the condition of the Footpath Network. By utilising trained professionals on Quadbike, Council is able to increase the efficiency and lower time required to undertake these inspections significantly as well as inspect more of the network as opposed to Council’s traditional methods of inspection by foot. This process involves specially set up Quadbikes with cameras, GPS and inbuilt laptops safely making their way along our footpath network and capturing specific condition and defect data as set by Council’s Asset Management Team. This data is then rated by trained professionals and all required information is supplied back to Council.

Through this system of inspecting, the Asset Management Team can effectively program footpath reconstruction works and ensure public safety by making safe trip hazards. It also has the added benefit of freeing up Council’s Asset Inspectors so they can spend more time looking after Customer Requests and inspecting Council’s vast network of varied assets.
