The Crest - Stage 1A

The Crest Open Space is 41 hectares of open space in Gledswood Hills and will deliver a sustainable, inclusive and connected community by activating public open space and unlocking public land for a range of leisure and recreational uses.

The Crest Public Open Space Master Plan was adopted by Council in December 2021 following consultation with residents and other stakeholders. At the time, Council committed to further developing a detailed design of the proposed Stage 1 works.

The overall Master Plan has been broken into smaller stages to allow Council to best manage the development of the site. The delivery of Stage 1A will be the first to be delivered, with future stages to be developed in line with the master plan.

Stage 1A works will include:

  • Natural play area;
  • Bicycle adventure course incorporating learn to ride components;
  • Amenities and shelter;
  • Car parking;
  • BBQ and shelter areas;
  • Kickabout areas; and
  • Shared pathways.

Camden Council was recently successful in securing $518,650 from the NSW Government's Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure under the Metropolitan Greenspace Program for the delivery of the Foothills Bike Park as an extension to the learn to ride facility.

The funding will allow for the design and delivery of a district level bicycle facility including an entry level mountain bike facility as well as walking tracks and recreational/bicycle trails.

Timeframe

Construction is expected to commence mid-2025.

Budget

The budget for Stage 1A is $3.737 million including $518,650 from the NSW Government Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure under the Metropolitan Greenspace Program.
