Oi – will you be celebrating Australia Day with Camden Council?
We’re officially two weeks out from Australia Day celebrations making a comeback, after having to move online in 2022. Residents are encouraged to head down to Argyle Street in Camden from 9am on Thursday 26 January to see some incredible roving entertainment until 10am, and then enjoy the much-loved Macarthur Lions Australia Day Street Parade until 11am.
Also taking place on Australia Day will be Camden’s first Citizenship Ceremony for 2023, which will welcome more than 60 residents as they take their pledge to be true-blue Aussies.
Mayor of Camden, Cr Therese Fedeli, said she couldn’t wait to enjoy the festivities to come.
“While it was a shame we couldn’t be together to celebrate Australia Day in person last year, it just makes the times we can be together even more special – which is what this year will feel like for me,” she said.
“I hope everyone will enjoy celebrating what makes our great country so fantastic and it gives everyone a special and exciting sense of all the good things to come in the year ahead.
“The citizenship ceremony we hold on this special day each year is one of the highlights for me. They hold such importance – the chance to witness our residents making the choice to become an Australian and add to our beautiful and multicultural community is just fantastic.
“I can’t wait to see you all there!”
