Camden Council is excited to announce Camden War Memorial Pool will officially reopen on Saturday 7 January 2023.
The facility suffered significant damage during the Camden floods this year, forcing Council and the Y to delay its opening for the summer season. Work to repair this damage is now complete and the Camden War Memorial Pool season extended to 30 April 2023.
The work completed at the facility included:
- Repairs to the plant room roof;
- Replacement of all internal linings to the club room and awning area;
- Replacement of all timber doors to the plant and club rooms;
- Replacement of the club room kitchen;
- Repairs to the main electrical switchboard, water affected general purpose outlets (GPOs/power points), data outlets and light fittings;
- Replacement of solar heating roof lines;
- Replacement of pool heat pumps;
- Empty pools (50-metre and leisure) repair and refill;
- Replacement of hot water system;
- Painting of all external and internal walls, doors and ceiling;
- Repair and replace damaged mechanical and plumbing services to the plant room; and
- Recommissioning of the Pool and Plant room.
Mayor of Camden, Cr Therese Fedeli, thanked the local community for their patience during the pool closure.
“The health and safety of our community is always Council’s number one priority and we have worked hard to complete these repairs and get you back in the pool safely earlier than expected,” Cr Fedeli said.
“We know how much our community absolutely loves Camden War Memorial Pool and now is their chance to prepare for some great days swimming with their family and friends.
“Council has also extended the season through to the end of April to allow residents to make the most of the warm weather.
“I look forward to seeing our residents back at Camden War Memorial Pool.”
Camden War Memorial Pool’s opening hours will be extended to 6am-8pm Monday to Friday and 8am-7pm Saturday and Sunday, from Saturday 7 January 2023.
