Camden’s history unlocked

Camden’s unique and fascinating history is set to be celebrated for the annual Unlock Camden event, as part of Camden Festival.
Attendees will enjoy a variety of exhibitions and activities including displays by local community groups, vintage cars, garden games and more at Alan Baker Art Gallery, Camden Library and Camden Town Farm from 10am-3pm on Saturday 2 September.
Mayor of Camden, Cr Ashleigh Cagney, said she was excited to see everybody taking part.
“Camden’s history is one of the most special things about this place we love,” she said.
“Unlock Camden is all about embracing that and celebrating our unique heritage. Now in its sixth year, Unlock Camden 2023 will be a real treat for the whole family.”
Following an official opening from the Mayor at Camden Town Farm, the program will feature:
- Four guided heritage walking tours;
- Museum and family history displays;
- Vintage car displays;
- Art demonstrations and workshops (book your place at https://camden-events.bookable.net.au/#!/?eventCategoryId=11);
- Markets stalls;
- Vintage garden games;
- Unlock Camden - History Talk at Camden Library; and
- Much more!
Camden Library will also host the Camden – Then and Now exhibition throughout September.
Other ways people can get involved with Unlock Camden include:
- Sharing something as part of My Camden Story;
- Viewing the Heritage Map; and
- Downloading the Heritage of Western Sydney app on the App Store and Google Play.
Owners of heritage buildings are also encouraged to view the Camden Material and Colour Guide, which provides information and advice for property owners to consider when proposing works to a heritage building.
