Celebrate National Carers Week in Camden
Posted 4 years ago
Celebrate the amazing job carers do, with Council hosting a series of stories online as part of National Carers Week next month.
National Carers Week, running between 11-17 October, recognises and celebrates the outstanding contribution unpaid carers make to the nation, with more than 2.7 million unpaid carers in Australia.
This year, Council will host videos of local carers sharing their experiences and stories as they care for their friends or family members.
Mayor of Camden, Cr Theresa Fedeli, said it was a great chance to pay tribute to the invaluable role carers play within the community.
“Providing support to a family member or friend who has a disability, mental illness, alcohol or drug dependency, long term health condition or who is frail is definitely a difficult job,” Cr Fedeli said.
“This is what makes carers that extra bit special to any community.
“The series of videos will not only highlight the great work of our unpaid carers, but also educate and raise valuable awareness about caring roles in the community.
“I encourage the Camden community to keep an eye on Council’s Facebook page during National Carers Week and view the amazing stories that are mostly unheard.”
Carers NSW will also host a number of online health and wellbeing events for Carers across NSW during the week.
