Community connection through #whatscamden campaign
Posted 5 years ago
It’s your chance to hear what everyone has been getting up to while social distancing with Camden Council’s #whatscamden social media campaign.
The seven-week campaign encourages the community to connect with each another and share what activities they’ve been enjoying while spending more time at home.
Every Monday, Council will announce the weekly theme via social media, asking residents to contribute their own image using the relevant hashtag of the week. Residents are able to show each other what they’re watching, wearing, playing, eating and much more.
Mayor of Camden, Cr Theresa Fedeli, said the campaign will also give residents ideas for new activities to do with their own families.
“This campaign is a great opportunity to increase community connection during disruptions to our normal lives brought on by COVID-19,” Cr Fedeli said.
“We are lucky enough to be living in a digital world, giving us the capabilities to connect with each other from the comfort of our own homes.
“Many families are still staying home, and this is their chance to have some fun and touch base with what their neighbours are doing throughout Camden and even form new friendships.
“I urge the community to come together and get behind the campaign. Whether you find a new show on Netflix to dig into, learn a new skill or even see a new recipe, I am sure many of us will benefit from this.”
Residents who post their images using the weekly hashtag will go into the running to win a weekly prize.
