Council secures touchless water bubbler and refill station

Camden Council continues to adapt to an ever-changing, COVID-influenced environment, securing funding for an exciting new safety-focused gadget for future events.
A touchless portable water bubbler and refill station, giving residents access to free water safely, will be purchased after Council successfully secured more than $3,000 in funding from AGL’s Local Communities Investment Program.
The program provides funding to support communities for projects, events and initiatives that provide environmental, social and economic benefits.
Mayor of Camden, Cr Theresa Fedeli, said the station’s benefits would be two-fold.
“We all know staying hydrated is so important, especially when we’re outdoors at events for long periods of time,” Cr Fedeli said.
“Our community will be able to access free water while at our events in a safe way and will not need to touch a single thing to do so. Given the current situation with COVID-19, this is fantastic!
“This station will also discourage the use of single use plastics, which is also an important issue to combat.
“I’m so proud to be leading a Council that is looking at innovative ways to stay safe while planning to get on with life in a ‘new normal’ way.”
The portable water bubbler and refill station will also be made available to local community groups and schools for their events and activities.
