Residents can declutter their homes more than ever, with Council offering an extra kerbside collection per financial year as of 1 July 2020.

The extra service was a part of Council’s $16.8 million COVID-19 package, allowing a total of three kerbside collections for all residential properties.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Theresa Fedeli, said residents could stay on top of their unwanted items around the house with the service expanding.

“Kerbside collections are the perfect service to get rid of any unwanted bulky household items that cannot go into your waste or recycle bin,” Cr Fedeli said.

“We all live busy lives and at times forget about getting rid of items in our backyards, garages of even in our homes.

“This is a great way to keep our personal environment clean and tidy, and I encourage residents to contact Council with any questions regarding kerbside collections.”

Items that residents can include in kerbside collections include:

  • Beds and mattresses;
  • Garden clippings that are no more than 15 centimetres in diameter (cut into one-metre lengths and tied into bundles);
  • Household electrical appliances;
  • Metals such as whitegoods, hot water systems, air conditioner units, gym equipment, push bikes and other large metal items;
  • Old furniture; and
  • Toys.

Council also provides a number of other waste services, including:

  • Weekly waste collection for general, recycling and green waste bins;
  • Battery Recycling Program – all brand AA, AAA, C, D and 9V batteries (both rechargeable and non-rechargeable) are accepted at Camden Council’s Oran Park Administration Building;
  • Free E-Waste service – residents can recycle their electronic equipment at Spring Farm Resource Recovery Park;
  • Syringe disposal – a sharps container is available at Camden Council’s Oran Park Administration Building; and
  • X-Ray films – can be dropped off at your local radiologist clinic.
