Posted 3 years ago in Community
The future of Camden’s entertainment and culture will soon be set with the draft Cultural Activation Strategy 2022-26 on public exhibition this month.
The strategy aims to engage the community with culture including delivering opportunities for connection through high quality events, programs and activations that are culturally diverse.
The four key pillars of the strategy, now on public exhibition, include:
- Cultural activation – Activities which support the broad activation of space in Camden including, the development of a program of activations and events, production of public art and space provision for creative enterprise;
- Cultural development – Avenues for support for cultural business including professional development and networking opportunities;
- Cultural destination – Develop and promote Camden as a key destination for a range of cultural tourism experiences from heritage to contemporary; and,
- Cultural advocacy – the importance of collaboration and partnership with community, business, education, government and the arts and cultural sector.
Mayor of Camden, Cr Therese Fedeli, said it was important to provide opportunities for the entire community of Camden.
“Cultural activity is key to bringing people together and giving people the chance to express themselves and this strategy will enhance and provide another dimension to our already vibrant local economy,” Cr Fedeli said.
“Council will build upon our existing strengths and seek new opportunities to support culture and the arts in the Camden community.
“We would love to hear your thoughts on what you would like included in the strategy.”
The draft strategy will be on public exhibition from Wednesday 20 October, 2021.
