Council is continuing its mission to plant 1,700 street and park trees by the end of December 2022, as part of its Every Tree Counts planting projects.

The projects have seen over 420 street trees planted throughout the Camden area since its launch in August 2021, with hundreds more programmed to be planted over the coming months.

Trees play an important role in creating great spaces for our community and contribute to the green canopy of our LGA by providing vital shade and reducing ambient temperatures.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Therese Fedeli, said the trees were important to increasing the urban tree canopy in the Camden LGA.

“Not only do trees add to our beautiful environment and make it greener, but they also play an important role in cooling the suburb, providing shade and reducing the urban heat island effect, Cr Fedeli said.

“We’re also giving residents an opportunity to Love Your Tree and adopt either their new or existing street tree by their home.

“The first 300 residents who register to adopt their tree will receive a care package to use to help ensure their tree thrives.”
