Get active again with Camden’s Café Connect

Local seniors are invited to engage in Council’s Café Connect program, taking place across the Camden area until December.
Café Connect is a one stop shop providing local residents aged 55 years and over information about health, social activities and services available in a variety of formats. The sessions can include one-on-one meetings with service providers, as well as allowing participants to interact with places, groups, events and people, aiding a sense of belonging.
The program includes:
- Road Safety Workshop;
- Troves Historical Archives Workshop;
- Meditation Workshop;
- Christmas in July;
- Tai Chi Workshop;
- Aqua Aerobics;
- Grandparents Day;
- Summer Salads, Worm Farming and Composting Workshop;
- Scam Awareness Workshop; and
- Road Safety Workshop.
Residents can participate in the activities, then attend the café; or simply come along, meet new people, and have a chat with services about information you need to know.
Mayor of Camden, Cr Therese Fedeli, said the program was a great way for seniors to get involved in health and wellbeing activities, while connecting and meeting new people.
“All Café Connect activities are free, which means residents can enjoy participating in a range of fun programs each month,” Cr Fedeli said.
“Council strives to host programs that are meaningful and allow residents to feel socially connected and supported in their hometown, and this is exactly what Café Connect is about.
“I encourage all eligible residents to have a look at the program and get involved. You never know what opportunities can come from stepping out of your comfort zone!”
