Mayor of Camden, Cr Theresa Fedeli, is encouraging residents to help keep Camden as picturesque as ever by getting involved in Clean Up Australia Day this Sunday 1 March.

Communities across Australia have banded together to clean up their area for up to 30 years as part of the national event.

“Clean Up Australia Day has inspired communities around the country to clean up, fix up and conserve the environment,” Cr Fedeli said.

“It is about preventing rubbish entering our environment while removing what is already accumulated.

“Residents have the option to create their own group or join another in the local area and join in on Clean Up Australia Day and I encourage everyone to do their bit in keeping Camden beautiful.”

Common issues facing our environment includes cigarette butts, plastic bags, e-waste, batteries, scrap metal and much more.

Camden Council also offers a range of waste disposal options, to help keen the Camden area pristine. They include:

• Weekly garbage, recycling and green waste collection;
• Kerbside collection. Residential properties are eligible for two free kerbside collection services per financial year;
• Recycling Drop Off Days, where residents can dispose of their extra recycling products quarterly at Council’s Works Depot located at 5 Millwood Avenue, Narellan;
• Household Chemical Cleanout, where residents can disposal of their household chemicals in a safe and environmentally friendly manner at the annual Household Chemical CleanOut;
• Battery Recycling Program, which involves the disposal of batteries at six local drop-off locations;
• E-Waste service, where residents and businesses can recycle unwanted electronic equipment at Spring Farm Resource Recovery Park and two other regional locations;
• Return and Earn, with six locations across the Camden area.
