Learn about the iconic platypus with Council

Residents have the chance to learn how to help protect platypus at a special information evening next week.

The Free Platypus Information Evening, to be presented by Geoff Williams from the Australian Platypus Conservancy, will talk about the iconic Australian animal and how the community can be a part of the conservation effort.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Therese Fedeli said the session would go a long way to assisting the future of platypus in the area.

“The platypus is not only an iconic Australian animal but also one synonymous with the Camden area and it is important we do everything we can to learn about and nurture this beautiful animal,” Cr Fedeli said.

“Attendees will learn about conservation efforts to protect the protect the platypus, as well as how to become involved in monitoring through citizen science initiatives.

“I encourage residents young and old to attend the session.”

The Free Platypus Information Evening will be held on Thursday 16 August from 7pm at Camden Civic Centre. Bookings are essential.
