Important upgrades of five major roads in Leppington are a step closer to reality after Camden Council accepted its largest ever detailed design tender at its last ordinary meeting.

The nearly $7 million tender will see designs developed to upgrade:

  • Rickard Road from Bringelly Road to Ingleburn Road and Ingleburn Road from
  • Rickard Road to Camden Valley Way;
  • Byron Road North from Bringelly Road to Ingleburn Road;
  • Ingleburn Road from Rickard Road to Eastwood Road;
  • Rickard Road from Ingleburn Road to Heath Road; and
  • Rickard Road from Heath Road to Riley Road.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Ashleigh Cagney, said she was pleased to see these projects
progressing in a coordinated approach.

This is the largest detailed design contract Council has ever awarded,” she said.

"Packaging the detailed design together for these five roads into a single contract is the
most efficient approach and will offer the best outcome for the community by ensuring a
total overview of the roads and delivering a coordinated and connected outcome.

"Congratulations to AECOM for being awarded this tender. AECOM is a global
infrastructure leader and I have no doubt they will provide a design that ensures our
residents are connected and Leppington is prepared for the growing community.”

Council secured funding for the detailed design through the NSW Department of Planning,
Housing and Infrastructure, NSW Government Housing Acceleration Fund and Special
Infrastructure Contributions paid by developers.
