Local young musicians under the Spotlite
Posted 4 years ago
Local young musicians have the chance to showcase their work as Council host the next series of Camden Creatives Take the Lead music performances in SPOTLITE through to June this year.
SPOTLITE, funded by Family and Community Services, involves a series of events that will feature local emerging bands, supported by Headspace and Traxside who will share important resources and services for managing mental health. These events provide an entertaining social connection for young people 15 years and over
Mayor of Camden, Cr Theresa Fedeli, said the program gave young people an opportunity to express themselves on stage through music and to share it with others.
“Camden has always had a great amount of fantastic young artists and performers and this is their chance to take the first step in the industry and raise their profile in the community,” Cr Fedeli said.
“It is exciting that the community is also invited to check out what our local emerging music scene has to offer as well.
“We have already run one successful sell out event to kick start Youth Week festivities in April in the new performance space in Julia Reserve Community Centre in Oran Park and the upcoming events provide an opportunity and platform for even more young people to showcase their live music onstage in the coming months.”
Upcoming SPOTLITE events will be held on:
- 7 May, 7-11pm at Julia Reserve;
- 14 May, 7-11pm at Camden Civic Centre;
- 21 May, 7-11pm at Camden Civic Centre;
