Love your local tree with us
Posted 2 years ago
Camden is now home to more than 1,000 new street trees and Council is now calling on residents to help nurture new and existing trees in their local area.
The trees were installed thanks to a Greening Our City grant, matched by Council funding with planting locations right across the Camden area. Work has commenced to install another 800 trees to be planted in streets and parks by December 2022.
Council is now calling on residents to help ensure these new trees thrive by joining its Love Your Tree program to help take care of trees in local streets and parks.
Mayor of Camden, Cr Therese Fedeli, said the new trees would need extra care throughout their lives.
“Camden is lucky enough to be set in a beautiful environment and adding even more trees will add to our tree canopy, whilst also make our local streets even more attractive,” Cr Fedeli said.
“Council will continue to maintain trees and we are asking the community to join us to give them a little bit of extra tender love and care.”
“By joining the program, you can either look after a newly planted or established tree, with participants able to receive a tree care kit as well as vital information on how to care for their tree.”
“I encourage residents to sign up to the fantastic initiative and help us nurture the beautiful environment we live in.”
The project is part of the Greening our City grant program that is proudly funded by the NSW Government in association with Local Government NSW.
