Residents and visitors to the Camden area will soon be able to take in picturesque landscapes, glistening waterways and inspiring art, through a 4-kilometre extension to the walking trail though Camden Town Farm and Fergusons Land Cricket Facility.

The Linking Camden Town Centre to the Nepean River project, which will be completed over the coming months, is being funded through the NSW Government Public Spaces Legacy Program. The program aims to accelerate development assessment times to meet the demand for housing and employment. The NSW Government is contributing $5.1 million to the Linking Camden Town Centre to the Nepean River project.

Along the trail, visitors will be delighted by breathtaking artworks from local artists, including Melissa Barton, Jane Cavanough, Kevin Vo, Graham Chalcroft, Mark McClelland, Cathy Drew and Peter Day.

Included in the project is:

• A 4-kilometre walking trail extension that connects the Nepean River to Camden's main street via the Camden Town Farm, Fergusons Land and the Bicentennial Equestrian Park;
• Viewing platforms to the Nepean River;
• Camden’s first official public art trail;
• Works to support the agricultural operations at the Camden Town Farm such as fencing and stock gates;
• Installation of exercise equipment;
• Installation of historical and environmental interpretive signage;
• Installation of water stations;
• Landscaping works including tree planting; and
• Installation of park furniture and wayfinding.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Ashleigh Cagney, said she was excited to see the walking trail come to life.

“Walkways like this one provide the perfect way for people to get out and about and enjoy a healthy lifestyle,” she said.

“To have a connection between Camden and the Nepean in such a fantastic way will be an incredible asset to the Camden area.

“I’d like to thank the NSW Government for providing us the opportunity to carry out these fantastic works.”
