Camden residents have just won gold, with Oran Park Leisure Centre to be home to the area’s first Olympic-sized indoor swimming pool.
Camden Council accepted the tender by Warren and Mahoney Architects Australia Pty Ltd for the design of the facility at this week’s Ordinary Meeting.
The facility will include:
• A 50-metre indoor swimming pool;
• Increased gym area and leisure water area; and
• A decked car park structure.
Mayor of Camden, Cr Theresa Fedeli, said the centre will add another state-of-the-art sport and recreation facility to the area.
“Council is committed to providing the community with high quality sport and recreation facilities an expanded Oran Park Leisure Centre meet the community’s needs,” Cr Fedeli said.
“Upgrading the pool from 25 metres to 50 metres will much better serve the community, as will an expanded gym area and decked car park.
“It is exciting to think the Camden area will be home to so many state-of-the-art sporting facilities in the future. This includes Narellan Sports Hub, the Fergusons Land Cricket Facility, our new Kirkham Park BMX park, our first synthetic football field at Nott Oval in Narellan and soon the Oran Park Leisure Centre.
“The developer contributions from Greenfields Development Company will enable Council to design and construct the Oran Park Leisure centre, another state-of-the-art facility for the community. I look forward to seeing the design of the facility in the near future.”
The facility has an estimated completion date in mid to late 2024.
