Camden’s own curious kitty, Pip, paid a special visit to Mayor of Camden, Cr Theresa Fedeli, recently, to help remind residents about the importance of cat desexing.

Pip, who joins Paws as Council’s companion animal mascots, popped into Council’s Administration Building in Oran Park to speak about Council’s subsidised cat desexing program available to pensioners and concession card holders.

The program helps prevent hundreds of cats and kittens falling pregnant with eligible residents paying just $45 to desex their male cats and $65 for female cats.

“Desexing your cat and keeping it fit and healthy is an important part of responsible pet ownership,” Cr Fedeli said.

“It really is heartbreaking to see so many cats and kittens abandoned every year. It is also important to note that a single undesexed cat could actually be responsible for the birth of 5,000 kittens over seven years which is a huge number.

“I encourage eligible residents to get in touch with Council’s customer service team to discuss their options.”
