Protect your business from potential disaster

Local business owners will learn how to build resilience as Council hosts a free Disaster Preparedness Workshop as part of its Small Business Month program next week.
The Disaster Preparedness Workshop, to be held on Wednesday 23 November at Camden Civic Centre from 10am, will be delivered with key agencies including the Australian Red Cross, NSW State Emergency Services, Resilience NSW, Service NSW for Business, and South Western Sydney Local Health District.
Resilience NSW Acting Senior Coordination Officer, Tracy Hamilton, said the workshop would help businesses be best prepared in an emergency.
“Disaster preparedness is incredibly important for businesses as it gives them an opportunity to put measures in place before anything happens which can minimise the impact a business experiences as well as enables recovery to occur more smoothly,” Ms Hamilton said.
“I’ll be introducing the five Get Ready messages for businesses which will provide owners with a framework of what to think about and work through to be prepared for potential future disasters at the workshop.
“Anything business owners can do now to prepare will greatly help them in the future.”
The Small Business Month program runs through November, assisting local business owners with a range of tips, networking opportunities and much more.
Mayor of Camden, Cr Therese Fedeli, said it was important for local business owners to have plans in place in case of a disaster.
“Camden is all too familiar with disasters with the four floods this year alone and Council is committed to helping businesses protect themselves through this workshop,” Cr Fedeli said.
“This is about future proofing your business by planning how to manage unwelcome situations and create positive outcomes for your business and workers.
“I encourage local business owners and employees to register for the Disaster Preparedness Workshop.”
A range of Small Business Month workshops and networking events are still available until the end of this month.
