Local seniors have the chance to exercise their mind and body, with a free tai chi and meditation class as part of Council’s Café Connect program next month.

The class, which will be hosted by professional facilitators, will be on Thursday 12 March, from 10am at Oran Park Library. It’s the second to be held in the Camden area and is also a part of Council’s Seniors Festival program.

Cobbitty resident, Kay Caligari, who is attending her second session, said it was a great opportunity for local seniors to relax.

“The last one I took part in was relaxation and yoga and it was great to hear the facilitator talk us through it, I felt quite relaxed after it,” Ms Caligari said.

“I would definitely recommend it to any locals as you also get a chance to meet other people and it becomes a bit of a social thing as well.”

Mayor of Camden, Cr Theresa Fedeli, encouraged seniors to attend the event to continue living a healthy and active lifestyle.

“I believe it’s important for our seniors to be able to access these activities, so they can remain active,” Cr Fedeli said.

“This is one of the reasons we offer these activities to our locals.

“This upcoming class will be a welcome session of relaxation for participants and will also give tips for the future.

Seniors are also invited to join in a free guided walk through the Cumberland Plan Woodlands at The Australian Botanic Garden as part of the Café Connect session on Tuesday 10 March.
