We’re stronger together, Camden!
Residents may have noticed Council’s new signs in some of the areas most popular parks and reserves. They serve as a reminder to stay mindful of others, follow the latest NSW Government guidelines, practice common courtesy, be aware of park restrictions and, most importantly, take care and stay safe.
This includes being a responsible pet owner and ensuring you pick up your dog’s faeces.
Mayor of Camden, Cr Therese Fedeli, said many residents have been exercising in outdoor spaces to help keep fit and clear their minds.
“It's no doubt this is an incredibly difficult time for all of us and heading outside for some fresh air and exercise can give us that bit of sanity we need,” Cr Fedeli said.
“But it’s important to remember our parks, reserves and public spaces are for everyone to use and enjoy. We need to make sure we’re all being courteous and respectful of the people around us, as we would indeed expect that in return.
“I’d also like to take this opportunity to remind residents that we are subject to stay at home orders which allows us to leave our homes for a limited number of reasons. I would encourage everyone to keep doing the right thing so we are able to see the light at the end of this tunnel as soon as it’s safe.
“We’ll get through this, Camden. Let’s stick together, stay strong and stay positive!”
The stay at home order, which in place across Greater Sydney until Saturday 28 August at 12.01am, means the following are currently in place for the Camden area:
- Residents must limit their shopping to within their Local Government Area (LGA) or, if outside their LGA, within 10km from home, unless the item is not available locally;
- Construction in non-occupied settings (with no residents on-site) are open in Camden, subject to a one person per four square metre rule. These low-risk construction sites must have COVID safe plans in place, compliance will be strictly enforced.
- Trades people, including cleaners who are able to work with zero contact with residents will also be allowed to resume (no more than two people inside and five outside). If contactless arrangements are not possible, work cannot go ahead.
- A singles bubble has been introduced, allowing people who live alone to nominate one designated family member or friend to visit for companionship.
