Local young people have the chance to showcase their talents, meet new people and enjoy the best of the area, with Camden Council’s annual Youth Week program announced recently.
A range of activities are planned for the largest celebration of young people aged 12-24 years between 1 and 9 April, including the popular $5 Youth Movie Night, virtual reality workshop and sports festival.
Camden Youth Council member, Lubna Sherieff, said she was excited to take part in the planned events this year.
“I think it is very important for young people to get out in their community and enjoy what we have on offer and this is the best opportunity for that,” Ms Sherieff said.
“I’m personally looking forward to Camden Shorts. I’ve been attending that for a few years which showcases so many talented young stars who get up on stage sometimes for the first time and give it their all.
“Youth Week is a great initiative which promotes opportunity for young people to do things outside of school hours and try new things.”
Mayor of Camden, Cr Theresa Fedeli, said this year’s Youth Week line-up in Camden was better than ever.
“The program allows young people to become informed about local issues whilst also providing an opportunity to meet new people,” Cr Fedeli said.
“Camden’s Youth Week celebrations have won several awards in the part years and I am proud to see what the team has on offer again in 2020.
“I encourage all eligible young people to check out the Youth Week program and attend an event that interests them.”
