Child Safe Organisation

Under the Child Safe Scheme, Camden Council has adopted the recommendations of the scheme by implementing the Child Safe Standards. Camden Council's Child Safe Framework incorporates a Child Safe Policy and Child Safe Code of Conduct (included within the Child Safe Policy). Camden Council is committed to engaging with children and young people respectfully and appropriately, hiring appropriate people to work with children, and keeping our community safe.

Camden Council's Child Safe Commitment Statement

‘Camden Council has a zero tolerance of child abuse and mistreatment in our organisation. Council is committed to fostering a child safe culture and environment, where the safety, wellbeing and participation of all children and young people is paramount. We endeavour to lead a community where children and young people feel safe, heard and are believed.'

Council invests in the development of our staff and volunteers to ensure the Child Safe Standards are embedded in our everyday practices, so that children and young people feel empowered, safe and protected.

 Child Safety is Everybody's Business

Whether you're a parent, community member, local organisation, sporting group or government agency, it's a shared responsibility keeping children safe. When organisations and communities adopt the Child Safe Standards, children's safety and welfare is at the forefront with a key focus on prevention.

Parents engage a range of services to work with their children - from schools, sporting programs and tutors, all of which are required to be Child Safe organisations. More information for parents on engaging childrens services can be found here
