Residents and visitors will be charging on down to use the new electric vehicle charging stations at Camden’s Oxley Street carpark, Oran Park Library and Narellan Library carparks, that are now charged and ready for use.

Delivered under stage three of Council’s COVID-19 Support Package, the charging facilities will be accessible to the community and are located in dedicated electric vehicle (EV) charging car spaces.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Therese Fedeli, said she was excited to be providing electric charging stations to the community and tourists.

“Electric vehicles are the way of the future and we’re committed to building a cleaner and more sustainable community for our residents to enjoy,” she said.

“These six public charging stations are the first Council has installed in the Camden area.

“Not only will they be convenient for our residents, but they have been installed in locations to help encourage visitors to enjoy our town centres and incredible community facilities while their car is charging.

“The EV charging stations will be offered free of charge and will be suitable for most electric vehicles.

Council’s $113.8 million Stage Three COVID-19 Support Package includes 65 projects and programs to be delivered by 2023/24 and is focused on getting the Camden community back on its feet, with a range of exciting projects and programs.

Council is proud to invest $130.6 million across the three stages of our COVID-19 Community Support Package to support residents and local businesses suffering the shock of COVID-19. It’s estimated all three stages will boost Camden’s economy by up to $221.7 million and generate up to 507 new jobs.
