Local Government Week
As part of Local Government Week 2024, Camden Council will hold the annual Mayor for a Day Public Speaking Competition.
Each school in the Camden Local Government Area is invited to nominate a deserving Year 6 student to represent their school.
The students are asked to deliver a short three-minute speech about; Why they would like to be the Mayor of Camden and what they would do for the Local Government Area.
This year, the speeches will be judged on a range of factors including:
- Presentation of the speech;
- Knowledge of Local Government;
- Knowledge of Camden; and
- Ideas they have to make our area a better place.
The competition will be held on Wednesday 31 July at 10am at Camden Council’s Administration Building located at 70 Central Avenue, Oran Park.
The winner and runner up will be announced on the day of the competition, with the winner invited to wear the Mayoral Robe and Chains.
