The $10 million Camden Animal Shelter and the $4 million Community Nursery projects are proudly funded by the NSW Government’s Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants Program.
Animal Shelter works will include:
- A purpose-built animal shelter including adoption viewing areas with meet and greet spaces;
- Animal housing designed in accordance with shelter medicine principles, sustainable design and Capacity for Care modelling;
- Designated exercise yards, enrichment spaces and a walking track;
- Reception area, staff workspaces and public amenities; and
- A multipurpose function room that will offer community outreach programs.
The Camden Community Nursery will include:
- Converting an industrial area into a community nursery to be used to nurture native species to be used in landscaping and restoration projects delivered by Council; and
- Structured volunteer opportunities in conjunction with partnering organisations and groups.
While the nursery will not be accessible to the public on a day-to-day basis, plants will be made available to the community through regular plant giveaways.
