About the project
Camden Council has received $10 million through the Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants Program to deliver the Camden Animal Shelter project.
Animal Shelter works will include:
- A purpose-built animal shelter including adoption viewing areas with meet and greet spaces;
- Animal housing designed in accordance with shelter medicine principles, sustainable design and Capacity for Care modelling;
- Designated exercise yards, enrichment spaces and a walking track;
- Reception area, staff workspaces and public amenities; and
- A multipurpose function room that will offer community outreach programs.
Following the close of the exhibition period, the project will move into the detailed design phase before a development application is lodged with the NSW Government mid-2024.
Construction of the new facility is expected to commence in mid-2025 and continue for 12 months. The $10 million Camden Animal Shelter and Community Education Hub is funded by the NSW Government’s Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants Program. View a copy of the preliminary concept layout design.
