Multicultural Communities
As the population of the Camden Local Government Area (LGA) continues to grow so will the diversity and background of our residents. In 2021, 74.1% of people living in the Camden LGA were born in Australia and 23% were born overseas.
The top ten overseas country of birth were: United Kingdom, India, New Zealand, Philippines, Iraq, Fiji, China, Nepal, Italy and Pakistan. With United Kingdom being the highest increase followed by India and New Zealand.
Cultural diversity brings many benefits to the community in terms of business, investment and tourism. But more importantly, living in a culturally diverse community helps us to understand that regardless of what we look like or where we come from, we share many things in common.
Residents who are from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse backgrounds (CALD) are people who have migrated to Australia, from both English speaking and non English speaking countries.
